Saturday, Sept 10 - Annual Church Golf Outing
Our annual congregation wide golf outing will be held on Saturday, September 10th, at 2:00pm. Everyone is invited to the Geneva Golf Club, on South St. in Geneva, for a round of 9 holes. Pot Luck dinner at the Buchanan's follows golf at 6pm. You are welcome to come for golf only, golf and dinner, or dinner only. There is a group of members who do not feel up to standard-sized golf, and so will be playing a round of miniature golf at 2pm at Stone Creek Miniature Golf course at Wheeler Park in Geneva. If you will be playing either standard-sized golf or miniature golf, please let Dave Buchanan or Mike Rosier know so that foursomes can be set up. If you plan to come to the pot luck supper afterward, please let Lynnly Buchanan know, and plan to bring either an appetiser, side dish or dessert to pass. Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and beverages will be provided.
Sunday, Sept 11 - Rally Day
Rally day will be Sunday, September 11th this year. We will have a short Christian Ed presentation during services, and then children will be dismissed for a Rally Day Fun Fair.
Sunday, Sept 11 - Youth Group Mission Trip Presentation
Following coffee hour on Sunday the 11th, Claire Buchanan will give a presentation about her missions trip with the United Methodist Youth Group this summer, and talk briefly about the opportunity for all our youth group to participate in next year's trip. The presentation will be in the Mayflower Room.
Sunday, Sept 11 - Deacons Board Meeting
The Deacons Board will meet on Sunday, September 11th, at 11:30am.
Saturday, Sept 17 - Men's Breakfast
The next Men's Breakfast will be on Saturday, September 17th at 8:30am. All men and boys are welcome for food, fellowship and light chores. This month we will be discussing the Open Door Clinic cook-out scheduled for August and sponsored by the Men's Group.
Sunday, Sept 18 - Congregation Wide Property Improvement Vote
On Sunday the 18th we will be having a congregation-wide meeting to discuss plans for significant property improvements, including the replacement of our current handicap lift system with an elevator lift system. The vote will entail approving the property improvements as well as the Capital Campaign to raise the fund to pay for the system. The improvements and Capital drive will pass if a majority of the members present approve it, so please plan to attend.
Sunday, Sept 18 - Open Door Clinic Fund Raiser
Open Door Clinic will be having a fundraiser on Sunday, September 18th, at the Arcada Theater in St. Charles. They will be showing The Miracle Worker, starring Patty Duke, and Patty Duke herself will be there for a Q & A before the movie. Tickets are on sale through the Open Door website, www.opendoorclinic.org/, and are either $25 or $50. The $50 tickets gets you into the show, as well as a meet and greet event with Patty Duke after the show.
Sunday, Sept 25- Night Ministries Visit and Luncheon
The Missions Board has begun inviting guest speakers to worship and fellowship, in order to give the congregation a better idea about what activities the UCC and other local organizations are involved in. On Sunday the 25th the UCC's Night Ministries will visit to tell us more about the work they are involved in. The Missions Board will sponsor a luncheon following services so we can hear more about this group and it's activities. Please plan to attend, it should be an interesting presentation.
Sunday, Oct 2- Spiritual Green Connection Visit
On Sunday October 2nd, the Missions Board has made arrangements for the Spiritual Green Connection to come to services and tell us about the work they are involved in. They will be available after services, during coffee hour, to answer questions or talk in more detail about their work.
Friday, October 7- Devil's Highway Book Study
In anticipation of our visit from the Immigration Task force in November, we will be reading The Devil's Highway, which discusses illegal immigration, and specifically the transportation of immigrants through the desert. Our first book study meeting date is Friday, October 7th, at 7pm. We will meet in the Mayflower Room.
Sunday, Oct 9 - Stewardship Board Meeting
On Sunday October 9th, the Stewardship Board will meet at 11:30am in the Peterson House.
Saturday, Sept 17 - Men's Breakfast

Sunday, Oct 16 - Mad Monks
We will once again enjoy the New Orleans style jazz of the Mad Monks of Melody on Sunday, October 16th at 10am services. Bring your foot tappin' shoes and a tuned up voice as we are delighted with melodies like Amazing Grace, Just a CLoser Walk, and When the Saints Come Marching.
Sunday, Oct 16 - CROP Walk
This year's CROP Walk steps off at 2pm on Sunday, October 16th, at the United Methodist Church in Batavia. You can join our walk team, or just contribute to the walker's goals, by visiting our CROP Walk page, which will be up in the next couple weeks.
Friday, October 21 - Devil's Highway Book Study
The second half of our Devil's Highway book study will be held on Friday, October 21st, in the Mayflower Room.
Sunday, October 23 - Neibhur Center Worship Team
On Sunday, October 23rd, the Elmhurst College Neibhur Center Worship team will be joining us for services, and in fact will be leading most of the service. They work throughout the year with different churches in order that they might help their members learn varied and effective ministry techniques. Come help us support their mission.
Saturday, October 29 - Lazarus House Dinner Service
Our next Lazarus House Dinner service date is Saturday, October 29th, at 6pm. If you are interested in helping make either the entree or a side dish, helping serve, or supplying milk, juice or fruit for the dinner, please contact Kim V or Lynnly B.
Sunday, November 6 - Immigration Task Force Visit
The Mission's Board has made arrangements for the Immigration Task Force to visit. We will have a Missions Board sponsored Pot Luck lunch following services on Sunday, November 6th, at 11:15am. They will discuss their work with us as well as our impressions from our Devil's Highway book study.

Friday, November 18 - Chutney Day 1

We will begin making our world famoust Apricot and Cranberry Chutney on Friday, November 18th, continuing into Saturday, November 19th. our chutney is made to sell during our Christmas Tea fundraiser in December.
Sunday, November 20 - Hanging of the Greens
We will decorate the church for Christmas on Sunday, November 20th, following services. PLease plan to stay after to help. Lunch will be provided by the Worship Board.
Friday, December 2 - Christmas Tea Fundraiser Day 1
Saturday, December 3 - Christmas Tea Fundraiser Day 2
Our annual Christmas Tea fundraiser will be held on Friday December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd this year. We need volunteers for serving from 10am until 2pm or 2pm until 6pm on both days. Our Christmas Tea is held in conjunction with the Geneva Chamber of Commerce Housewalk each year. As part of the Tea, we provide homemade Christmas cookies and orange spiced tea or coffee to Housewalk participants. Additionally, we sell our homemade chutneys, and this year we will be featuring crafts and other sale items from Ten Thousand Villages as well as our friend Terri Beltran. See Lynnly B or Ruth M to sign up to help out with the Tea in whatever way you can.
Friday, Sept 9 - Christmas Tea Planning Committee Meeting
We will have a meeting on Friday, September 9th, 7pm in the Mayflower Room, for anyone interested in helping with planning for this year's Christmas Tea. The Tea will be the weekend of December 2nd and 3rd.
